5-Day Devotional: Saved and Set Free

Day 1: Savior and Lord

Reading: Romans 10:9 — the declaration that Jesus is Lord and the belief that God raised him from the dead are the foundation of salvation

Devotional: Many people receive Jesus as Savior but never surrender to him as Lord. There is a profound difference. A Savior rescues you from danger. A Lord directs your steps. When Jesus is only your Savior, you remain in charge of your own life, and self-centered living produces broken relationships, unresolved fear, and spiritual stagnation. True transformation begins when you hand over the throne. Examine your life honestly today. Are there areas where you are still acting as your own lord? Surrender those areas by name. Lordship is not a burden — it is the doorway to the freedom Jesus promised.

Day 2: Renewed, Not Just Rescued

Reading: Romans 12:2 — the call to stop being shaped by the patterns of this world and instead be transformed through the renewal of the mind

Devotional: Salvation changes your destination. Renewal changes your daily reality. You can be born again and still think like the world, react like the world, and live in the same cycles of pain and dysfunction that defined your life before Christ. The mind is a battlefield, and the enemy works hard to keep your thinking conformed to doubt, fear, and self-sufficiency. Renewing your mind means consistently immersing yourself in God’s Word until it reshapes how you see yourself, your relationships, and your circumstances. Do not settle for being saved and stuck. Let the Word of God transform the way you think, one truth at a time.

Day 3: The Truth That Sets You Free

Reading: John 8:31-32 — Jesus teaches that holding to his words is the mark of true discipleship and the path to knowing a truth that liberates

Devotional: Freedom is not found in better circumstances or stronger willpower. It is found in truth — specifically, the truth of who God is and who you are in him. Fear, shame, guilt, and insecurity lose their grip when the truth of God’s Word takes root in your heart. The enemy’s oldest strategy is to make you doubt what God has said, just as he did in the garden. Every time you choose to believe God’s Word over your feelings, your fears, or the world’s narrative, you are walking in the freedom Jesus purchased for you. Hold to his teachings. The truth is your liberation.

Day 4: The Unchanging Love of God

Reading: Romans 8:31-39 — the assurance that nothing in all creation can separate a person from the love of God found in Christ Jesus

Devotional: One of the most transformative moments in a believer’s life is when the love of God stops being a theological concept and becomes a lived reality. When you genuinely grasp that God loves you unconditionally — not because of your performance, your past, or your potential — everything changes. Fear loses its power. Insecurity begins to dissolve. You no longer need the approval of others to feel secure, because the Creator of the universe has already declared his love for you through the cross. Receive that love today. Not as a distant idea, but as a present, personal, unshakable reality that defines who you are.

Day 5: Set Your Mind Above — Become a Thermostat

Reading: Colossians 3:1-2 — the instruction to those raised with Christ to set their hearts and minds on things above rather than on earthly things

Devotional: You are not called to simply reflect the spiritual temperature of the room around you. You are called to set it. When your heart and mind are fixed on heavenly realities, you carry the presence and hope of God into every environment you enter — your home, your workplace, your neighborhood. A thermometer only measures what already exists. A thermostat changes the atmosphere. This requires intentional focus. Set your heart through worship and prayer. Set your mind through the Word. Then go into your world as someone who brings hope, speaks life, and demonstrates that Jesus is not only real but present and active. Be the thermostat.
