A Word From Pastor – Christmas

The Gospel is the Gift that keeps on Giving
Christmas is one of my favorite times of year! I love the family traditions, holiday treats, and of course giving and receiving gifts. One of the absolute joys is seeing people everywhere openly and joyfully celebrate the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ. Can you imagine the joyful spectacle of  the angels announcing the very first Christmas?

8 Now there were in the same country shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. 9 And behold, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were greatly afraid. 10 Then the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. 11 For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. 12 And this will be the sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger.”
13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying: 14“Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!” Luke 2

What an amazing proclamation the angels made that day! The peace the angels declared was peace between God and man. Jesus Christ, the Son of God, was born into this world to reconcile us to our Heavenly Father.  Jesus lived a sinless life so he could become the final sacrifice for all our sin. He literally became our sin so we could become His righteousness (2 Corinthians 5:21). Now by grace through faith we get to receive salvation, the ultimate Christmas gift from God! The Gospel is the gift that keeps on giving! This great salvation in Christ is not just for the sweet by and by when we die, its Grace for living today. Jesus wants us to be saved, healed, delivered, and prospered in this present age (John 10:9,10). Not only that but the saving Grace of Christ is a perfect holiday gift to share with friends, family members and even coworkers.
Merry Christmas!
